Ms. Charlie led us on a sensory adventure today beginning with a tactile experience that challenged us to explore items using one sense at a time, then describe them using vivid words.  She helped us move on to describing more abstract topics with a heightened awareness of language. Vivid images filled the pages of our notebooks and sensory and diamante poems were the result.  Next, we turned our attention inward and reflected on the people, places, objects, and experiences that make us who we are.  We infused our writing with sensory language to create powerful and poignant “Where I’m From” poems.

Our afternoon was spent diligently writing, revising, and typing various pieces to be published in the Anthology of Writing, which promises to be an exceptional collection of prose and poetry.

Building upon today’s learning and writing, next week we will explore the genre of flash fiction: micro-stories of sci-fi and fantasy.
